The two methods differ very little in terms of the process itself. The key difference lies in how the work steps are distributed within the warehouse.
The Pick-by-Cart permanently mounted Pick-by-Light displays is used when an employee keeps their cart with them at all times while working and handles the entire process—from preparation to picking and packing—on their own. Pick-by-Frame® is used when multiple employees are involved in order preparation, picking, and packing. The frame is used only during the picking process. The cart and the frame are registered with and controlled by order management via scanner or RFID. Preparation and packing are carried out by other employees. With Pick-by-Frame®, the number of frames and the number of pickers are equal. The ratio of frames to picking carts should be > 1:2.
