Mixed reality isn't tomorrow's innovation.
It’s already available with HoloLens TODAY
HoloLens is a mixed-reality headset that projects 3D holograms into a real-world environment, opening up entirely new possibilities. We have been working on this solution for several years, conducting research and development with HoloLens. In 2016, LUCA was honored by EUROLOGISTICS in the “Product of the Year” category for this solution.
The fascination with technology
The HoloLens is a perfectly engineered device that uses six cameras to capture the real-world environment in 3D, calculates virtual 3D objects in real time, and projects them precisely onto the stereo glasses. Audio output, speech recognition, and connectivity to the LUCA-Server out the glasses’ features. The virtual objects feel Pick-by-Hololens real in the real space with Pick-by-Hololens . The enormous computing power ensures very smooth movement of the virtual objects.
Used in production and logistics
Currently, the weight and dimensions of the HoloLens are not yet Pick-by-Hololens for continuous use in production and warehousing as Pick-by-Hololens . However, the direction of development is fascinating and on the right track. We'll keep an eye on it!
Google Glass or HoloLens
Compared to the HoloLens, Google Glass is nothing more than a small monitor attached to a pair of glasses. With its small built-in camera, Google Glass can also take good photos. However, the camera is not suitable for spatial recognition. Google Glass and the HoloLens are two different devices that cannot be directly compared. Google Glass only displays information on a mini-monitor. HoloLens displays information in a real 3D space. Google Glass is small and lightweight, making it more acceptable to the user. However, in our view, the use of smart glasses in logistics is fundamentally misguided. Logistics employees need information that can be presented to them more effectively in a different way.
Product of the Year 2016
As one of the first developers in Europe, LUCA had the opportunity to test and program the HoloLens as early as 2015. Our efforts resulted in a prestigious award for “Product of the Year 2016” in the logistics, transportation, and manufacturing sectors in Poland. We are very proud of this achievement and extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Polish developers.

Grand Prize: "
" Product of the Year 2016 in Logistics, Transportation, and Manufacturing for LUCA Logistic Solutions Pick-by-HoloLens.
The award-winning picking system is based on a 3D projection of objects and information, which were displayed as holograms above the picking bins in a real-world space. Picks were then confirmed either verbally or via a scanner.
