With the Pick-by-Bridge special method, large parts are picked using a mobile gantry crane (Automotiv). At Pick-by-Bridge , positioning indicators and target lamps are mounted on the mobile structure. The exact position of the crane is determined by distance measuring systems or eLocation®.
The process
Once the order has been activated on LUCA-Server , the employee is guided to their removal station via the positioning displays (similar to positioning in the car wash). The gantry crane at Pick-by-Bridge is generally not controlled automatically, but only by the employee for safety reasons. When the correct position is reached, the STOP indicator is switched on and the target compartment is illuminated. Removal with the crane can then take place. An eLocation® or RFID system can be used directly on the crane hook for automatic acknowledgement. Alternatively, the picked parts can also be scanned if required. Optionally, the storage position can also be signaled in the same way. The method can also be combined with other picking systems (e.g. Pick-to-Light, Voice Picking, etc.).
