Pick-by-Scan
The Pick-by-Scan method, which uses a scanner or handheld device to process picking orders, is very popular. The order information is displayed on the screen. The pick is confirmed via the built-in scanner and sent to the LUCA-Server . Various hardware products are available on the market.
Communication between the scanners and theLUCA-Server carried out via Wi-Fi. For fixed workstations, more cost-effective, wired solutions are also used. The scanned data isLUCA-Server to the centralLUCA-Server and processed.
The hardware is connected to the LUCA system via stable, standardized interfaces. Communication between the LUCA-Server the higher-level WMS and HOST systems is customized as needed.
Ergonomics
Scanners or handheld devices with built-in displays are usually very large and not ergonomic. Even today, many warehouses still use the old “Motorola Bones.”
Today, in modernpicking systems, we primarily use other smart solutions, such as Pick-by-Watch, Voice Picking, etc. The old Pick-by-Scan can be brought up to date through retrofit projects.
