What are handling costs?
In logistics, handling costs are not only logistics costs (warehousing costs), but also include all costs that are incurred in processes in which goods or finished products are moved via means of transport.
The major handling costs include: Personnel costs, vehicles, conveyors, transportation equipment, transportation costs, packaging materials, packaging equipment, and other material costs to move the goods. Ancillary costs that can only be partially allocated to handling costs include: Costs of machinery in the workshop, lifting platforms, cleaning costs, personnel costs of the repair workshop. The ABC analysis helps to minimize the handling costs.
