What are handling costs?

In logistics, handling costs do not only constitute logistics costs (warehousing costs), but also include all costs incurred in processes in which goods or finished products are moved via means of transport.

Among the most important handling costs are Costs for personnel, vehicles, conveyors, means of transport, transport equipment, transport costs, packaging material, packaging facilities and other material costs for moving the goods. Ancillary costs that can only be partially assigned to handling costs: Costs of machines in the workshop, lifting platforms, cleaning costs, personnel costs of the repair workshop. The ABC analysis helps to minimize the handling costs.
