Replacement of the Pick-to-Light specialist displays

In rare situations, the Pick-to-Light compartment displays need to be replaced. Here we explain exactly how to do this and when it is necessary.

When is it necessary to replace the compartment displays?

In productive operation, the Pick-to-Light compartment displays only need to be replaced in the event of mechanical damage. The electronic components are tried and tested, protected against short circuits and stable.

If a compartment display is damaged, it should be replaced immediately with a new one.

In some situations, the modules also have to be exchanged for a different type due to an expansion in the process. For example, if the displays need to show more information or the access sensors are used.

To replace the Pick-to-Light compartment display

Our Pick-to-Light compartment displays are attached to a sub-profile without cables. A BUS with the power and data supply runs in the sub-profile. The compartment display connects securely and directly to the BUS via the three spring contacts. There are therefore no cables between the individual modules.

Using a short spatula or wide screwdriver, the modules are mechanically clicked out of the bottom profile and replaced with a new module.

Exchange addresses in the software

Each module has a unique physical address, which must also be replaced when the Pick-to-Light hardware is replaced. You can find out more about the system structure and addressing in a separate article.

If the new compartment display has already been clicked into the sub-profile, it logs on to the Pick-to-Light software. The new display must now be assigned to the old logical address. The software will take you directly to the corresponding menu item where the replacement can be carried out.

Once the replacement has been confirmed, the configuration parameters are adopted directly and the new display is ready for use immediately.

Changing the compartment displays to another type

When changing the type of compartment displays, the configuration parameters, and very probably also the control process, must be adapted in addition to changing the addresses.

The adaptation of the configuration mainly affects the sensors that are used for access monitoring. If new information or functions are available, the control process is also adapted. However, this is not done via configuration parameters, but via software extensions.

Conclusion

Replacing the Pick-to-Light compartment displays is very easy thanks to the Quick-Click function and can be done with a simple tool (short spatula or flat screwdriver). The change of physical addresses and the appropriate assignment of logical addressing is very well supported by the Pick-to-Light software. When changing the types, the configuration and the control process must also be adapted.
